The 1 piece forged VR.G2 is a
relatively new wheel from Volk Racing and has quickly become one of
the most popular performance street and track wheels from Rays
Engineering. The G2 is the second generation of the TE37 wheel
line, which started production over 10 years ago and has become one
of the quintessential performance wheels. The evolution of this
wheel still continues and preferred by many in racing as well as
street performance enthusiasts. The VR.G2 was designed specifically
cater to those with high-performance cars. It is also what is
desired of the market today. There is a meaning to the spoke line
elongated from the flange. There is also a significance of the
shape and width of the rear rim.
Volk Racing is the premier wheel
line from RAYS Engineering, incorporating all of RAYS' top-level
technologies learned in Super GT, Touring Car racing, LeMans and
Formula One into its trend-setting designs. Volk Racing wheel
styles feature optimum caliper clearance, increased lip size and a
wide combination of face contours to perfectly match the desired
application. VOLK Racing is the exclusive wheel provider for the
2010 BimmerWorld race team. The exceptional strength and light
weight of our VOLK wheels will amplify our E90's performance and
get us to the top of the podium.
The material used to construct the
wheel is hot forged 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. The forging
process used to construct the wheel is known as RAYS Original
Forging Technology (RM8000), and is done with multiple pressures of
5,000 kilograms per square centimeter followed by the 2nd slow
forging process of 3,500 kilograms per square centimeter including
the high pressure forging of the wheel's lip. This is a versatile
process that creates a balance of light weight, strength,
durability and rigidity. RAYS independently developed and patented
the RM8000 forging process and designed the machines used to
perfect the flow of metal ensuring structural integrity is
maintained in the final wheel design. After this process, the
RM8000 forging technology is used to uniformly press the wheel from
the top, bottom, and sides in a high-speed spinning process that
extrudes the wheel into its final form with only minimal machining
required (further promoting structural integrity).
This process far surpasses JWL
standards as well as RAYS original JWL+R Spec.2 standards. Also,
the construction of the rear rim portion emphasizes enough strength
and quality to be used with super low profile tires. The rear size
has a deep concave component featuring rigidity, strength, and low
inset still enabling the completion of an aggressive
design.
Design, development, testing, and
manufacturing of Volk Racing wheels is done in-house at RAYS
Engineering resulting in a product that not only conforms to RAYS'
strict internal JWL + R standards but also meets RAYS' goals toward
the advancement of the "motorsports culture" and the satisfaction
of high-end customers who demand wheels that are strong and
light.
