Designed to provide the highest degree of protection and greatest efficiency for your drivetrain. Red Line's drivetrain lubricants are optimized for differential, transmission, or transaxle use over a wide range of temperatures. Proper selection depends upon the manufacturers' requirements and whether the application is for passenger automotive, commercial, or racing use. Red Line Gear Oils contain polyol-ester base-stocks to provide excellent lubrication even under extreme conditions of high-loading and high- temperatures--their natural lubricity provide excellent slipperiness which reduces the sliding friction in hypoid gears to reduce wear and temperatures. The synthetic base-stocks have a natural multi-grade property, so large amounts of unstable thickeners are not required to manufacture our gear oils, which means that Red Line Gear Oils will provide a stable viscosity for even extended periods of use. Red Line also manufactures gear oils which can be used in limited-slip differentials without the use of additional friction modifiers.

75W90 - A GL-5+ and GL-6 spec oil, preferred for use in conventional and LSD differentials. Contains limited-slip friction modifiers for decreased noise and better wear from clutch-type LSD units. Suitable for street and track. Our suggested gear oil for most BMW applications.

75W90NS - A GL-5 oil, designed for conventional differentials, but can be used in clutch-type LSD units for increased locking rates, leading to reduced wheel spin. Not recommended for street-driven LSD units!

75W140 - a GL-5 rated product recommended for street-driven road car differentials where that viscosity is specified, providing excellent performance in both conventional and limited slip units. This oil is specified for modern BMW LSD equipped differentials from '02 forward.

Got this for the differential on a 1973 '02 that I finally managed to get restored. It's highly recommended by several people I trust implicitly (including Mike Miller). Have just put it in, so have no experience with it, but expect it will do a superior job of lubing the 40% LSD diff I've got.
