The front control arm bushings are
one of the first parts to upgrade when looking to increase the
handling performance of your E30/E36 3 Series or Z3. The stock
bushings are extremely soft and wear quickly, causing unnecessary
deflection, uneven tire wear, and bad steering feedback. These
Powerflex front control arm bushings (FCAB) solve this issue by
using 100% urethane construction. This bushing reduces control arm
defection to a minimum, while still offering compliance for
everyday use. These are our #1 selling performance suspension
product for street, auto-x, and driving school cars*.
This bushing set is the 2 piece
construction. The bushings are made in 2 pieces so the rotation
happens between the urethane for a squeak free, easily lubricated
bushing with a considerably increased lifespan. The inner bushing
is grooved to hold the copper based lube (supplied with kit) for
numerous years.
Powerflex control arm bushings are
offered in 2 different versions, Centered or Offset. Offset control
arm bushings came stock in the E30 M3 and 1995 M3. We suggest the
offset version for these models along with any car that encounters
high speed performance driving. The offset bushing increases
suspension caster aiding in high speed stability, but is not
necessary for street cars and autocross cars because of the lack of
high speed driving. The centered bushing offers less caster, which
can be an asset for low speed turn in, which is typically where the
street and auto-x cars perform.
Both versions are made using black
95A urethane. Minimal NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) is
increased with this bushing set.
Slight modification needs to be made
to the offset version when being used with either the Meyle HD or
BMW E30 M3 aluminum arms. The "ear" that aligns the inner bushing
is larger than standard steel arms and will not fit properly
without slightly enlarging the bushings. This is a very easy
modification.
Press work is needed for
installation. We also offer these bushing sets pre-pressed into new
OEM housings for a simple installation.

*We suggest a solid-type bushing for
cars seeing numerous track days per year. See our solid suspension
component category for further information.
