New from Performance Friction - the
new line of Z-Rated brake kits specifically for your BMW! Without
question, this brake kit is the best on the market and that
conclusion comes from years of racing domination, not the marketing
desk. Also, unlike other brands whose street kits have only the
nametag in common with their top level racing components, these PFC
parts are the real deal that win Championships across the board of
top-level professional series Champ Car, ALMS, Rolex,
Grand-Am Continental, World Challenge, WTCC, Australian V8
Supercars, etc, etc...
The E46 M3 kit was specifically
designed to meet the needs of the BMW Performance enthusiast and
racer. Brake bias is moved slightly to the rear for improved
braking performance in both front-only and 4-wheel
applications.
Calipers
Performance Friction calipers all
start life as a billet aluminum block, machined into a one-piece
monobloc caliper. These are not the sand-cast calipers
used by many other manufacturers and are therefore both lighter and
stronger than anything on the general market.
- Z31 Front Caliper (4-Piston,
4-pad) - This caliper uses a Monobloc design, machined from a
single piece of allow billet for maximum strength from an
FEA-created design that optimizes weight while keeping the caliper
rigid. Multi-pad design uses four pads per caliper - one per piston
for an incredible bite.
- Z45 Front Caliper (4-Piston,
2-pad) - The Z45 caliper starts life as a PFC Monobloc, but in
the final machining stages is cut in half - originally to meet rule
requirements for GRAND-AM racing which required a 2-piece
caliper. Caliper maintains incredible stiffness even with an
open bridge due to oversized mil-spec fasteners and a structural
bridge bar.
- Z29 Rear Caliper (2-Piston,
2-pad) - A full billet piece, machined from a single piece of
alloy, unlike every other 2-piece caliper on the market that is
cast and machined. Caliper halves are bolted together with a
total of four mil-spec bolts and nuts (not threaded into the other
caliper half). These two features make this caliper both incredibly
light and incredibly strong to reduce flex.
Calipers are anodized and then
powdercoated black. Custom colors available with a 6-8 week
lead time.
Piston Envy
- Don't see the 6-piston option you wanted? That
is because they don't perform as well as a properly-designed
4-piston caliper which addresses the pad taper issue properly with
the ability to stagger bore diameters. PFC calipers are all
made with a maximum of four pistons with the exception of a
NASCAR-mandated 6-piston design - that is outperformed by its
4-piston counterpart...
Rotors
The Performance Friction rotors used
in all kits are the newest V2 Direct Drive Rotors. Made from a
precision casting, all external surfaces are machined to tolerances
of 0.004", including the OD of the vein area that most
manufacturers leave rough-cast. This is the only rotor that are mechanically, thermally, and
dynamically balanced - meaning you will never warp them because
they are balanced in all situations, all temperatures.
New V2 hardware reduces weight an
additional half pound from the already light V1 components. Front
rotors are either 323x32mm or 355x32, rear are
321x20mm.
Size Note
- Performance Friction rotors are a premium performance
part. You are purchasing a better brake kit, not just
a big brake kit. Discuss rotor sizing for your application
with one of our salesmen - the biggest available is not always the
best for your intended use.
Kit also includes Z-Rated PFC
performance pads and the required stainless brake line
set.
This kit is vastly superior to most
kits for street and race applications made by other manufacturers.
