These lightweight aluminum flywheels significantly lower the high rotating mass of your stock flywheel, allowing your engine to rev quicker. Makes shifting faster and rev-matching much easier.
JB Racing's lightweight aluminum OEM replacement flywheels are designed to provide performance enhancements for street driven vehicles. by reducing static weight and Moment of Inertia (MOI), the lightweight aluminum flywheel allows the engine to rev more quickly. It takes less horsepower to accelerate the lightweight flywheel, thus allowing more horsepower to reach the wheels.
Lightweight aluminum flywheels are manufactured from billet aluminum and are viewed as "single-mass" designs. These flywheels duplicate the critical dimensions of the OEM flywheels for the application listed, and are designed to accept the OE clutch components (EXCEPTION - new design E36 M3 flywheels accept sprung-hub M5 clutch discs - see our clutch/flywheel packages or call/email for more information). JBR flywheels are manufactured are state-of-the-art CNC equipment. All flywheels are designed, CNC machined, assembled, balanced, inspected, and packaged at JB Racing.
JB Racing is one of the best machine shops in the country, used by many professional race teams to do precision machining for engines and other driveline components. Their BMW flywheels are made with the same precision and quality that these teams rely on, unlike typical units on the market. Standard features include:

Excellent upgrade! From Jim Tappan of Roseville, California on 10/12/2004.
My E30 M3 is supercharged and as a result has always had poor throttle response due to the parasitic drag caused by the blower. This flywheel has made the throttle response much sharper than before. The engine revs much more quickly and I can feel the acceleration gain in 1st and 2nd. Acceleration in 3rd also is improved, but not to the same degree. Overall, it is exactly what my car needed to improve performance.
Tested MPD Flywheel Bmw 318is 91 E-30 M42 motor From Noah Najor of San Diego, California on 7/28/2003.
I recently purchased the MPD aluminum flywheel. I just got it installed and the difference is interesting. I also installed a new 02 sensor. The results: The car idles better than before, definetly a good thing. There is a little noise at idle but at 900rpm it is normal. I use to be able to chirp second gear pretty good and now I can't. This may not be a bad thing, I will see where the torque went on the dyno. Maybe it picked up hp but lost torque or moved the torque curve. My car was recently dyno tested and with intake/exhaust/lightweight ssr competition rims 11.2lbs and it put down 129.2 to the wheels. I am going to re dyno this week with new flywheel/Fuel pressure Regulator and 02sensor. The power band is not the same, respectively. It revs way faster and maybe when I use my nitrous "65 shot" I will see a better gain than before. I am happy with it, however the proof for me is the Dyno. It doesn't feel slower or faster just different. I know my car in and out and will update you on the results. My wheel Hp goal is 190 with 65 shot nos.
