Increasing
your E46 M3* to CSL levels of performance is a lot easier and
cheaper than you might think!
In Europe, BMW released the ultimate
E46 M3 badged the "CSL" after one of the greatest performing BMW's
of the 70s. This latest CSL car was completely reengineered on the
Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the longest most abusive
racetracks on earth. Part of the CSL's reengineered design was
incorporating a larger front brake system to increase thermal mass
and decrease fade due to overheating on the long racetrack. BMW
increased the size of the front rotors from 325mm to 345mm and
created a full floating design to allow the disc to expand evenly
for consistent stopping and even pad wear. To offset the weight of
the larger size and reduce unsprung weight, the rotor hats are made
of aluminum. The disc set is also cross drilled for better gas
evacuation and increased friction coefficient. This braking system
makes a noticeable difference in brake feel and fade resistance
over the stock system. Incorporating this kit with a quality
Performance Friction pad set is the best way to reduce stopping
distances and increase the ability to stay on the track
longer!
The kit consists of all parts
necessary for a complete upgrade to the front braking system
including both directional vented rotors, larger caliper carriers,
and rotor retaining screws. Brake pad options are available
including our premium line of Performance Friction brake pads
ranging from performance street to aggressive track. The CSL
braking system uses the same pads as E46 M3s and fits within
factory 18" wheels.
