Sprung-hub design prevents chatter, race proven performance and durability

Finally! A proper solution for a low cost, low
hassle, lightweight, sprung hub clutch to reduce transmission noise
in your E36 and Z3 car. Our kit features JB Racing flywheels and
either a Sachs or ClutchMasters clutch package - some of the best
names in the business.
These lightweight aluminum flywheels
significantly lower the high rotating mass of your stock flywheel,
allowing your engine to rev quicker. Makes shifting faster and
rev-matching much easier. The addition of a sprung-hub clutch will
reduce noise normally masked by the heavy stock dual-mass flywheel,
which is more prevalent with a lightweight piece. Other M5 pressure
plate kits on the market boast a lighter flywheel, but our total
package is 1.5
pounds lighter, which means more power to the
wheels!
THE FLYWHEEL JB Racing is one of the best machine shops in
the country, used by many professional race teams to do precision
machining for engines and other driveline components. Their BMW
flywheels are made with the same precision and quality that these
teams (including the BimmerWorld World Challenge Touring Cars) rely
on, unlike typical units on the market. Standard features
include:
- CNC machined flywheel, zero-balanced to
eliminate vibration
- Replaceable hardened steel clutch surface,
bolted - not riveted on
- Heli-coil inserts for pressure plate don't
strip when clutch is replaced
- Factory starter ring
gear
- Hardened steel gaul plate keeps the flywheel
bolts from damaging flywheel
- Flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, and
dowel pins included
THE CLUTCH This JB Racing lightweight flywheel accepts a variety of
stock and performance clutch packages. Our design addresses several
concerns common to both street and track driven
cars:
- Sprung hub - By adding a sprung hub disc, chatter
and noise gained by adding a lightweight flywheel is greatly
reduced or eliminated.
- Disc material - Depending on your car's use, we
offer five flavors for the right amount of grip:
- Sachs OEM Spec - smooth OEM feel, M3 spec
clampload
- ClutchMasters Stage I - Performance Organic - 40% higher
holding capacity, excellent for street and track
use
- ClutchMasters Stage II - Kevlar - 70% higher capacity,
smooth engagement, very long hard-use lifespan (2-3 times
stock)
- ClutchMasters Stage III - Sintered Kevlar - segmented
Kevlar surface, more bite, 110% higher capacity, long
life
- ClutchMasters Stage IV - Ceramic - hard use compound, gives
up some smoothness for additional power handling capability - great
for track use and hard street
- Pressure plate (ClutchMasters units only) - We
increase the clamping force on the pressure plate by changing the
lever action, which adds a minimal amount of pedal stiffness
compared to other methods. We also replace the straps with beefier
pieces and add an additional layer for good measure - this has
proven to be the Achille's heel most pressure plates and is a must
for cars that will receive any extended hard use.
All kits include JB Racing aluminum lightweight
flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate of choice, and throw-out
bearing. Fits all 6 cylinder E36 (323, 325, 328, M3), and -99 Z3
(2.8L, M Coupe/Roadster).
NOTE: Large 420G 6-speed transmission
conversions are inherently noisy. While this noise can be reduced
with a spring hub clutch, it cannot be
eliminated.
INSTALL NOTE: Install all discs with
springs facing flywheel.

BTW, more WHP!!

Forgot to mention I did a before-and-after test after clutch break-in, and the gains were: 20whp in 1st gear, 10whp in 2nd gear and around 5whp in 3rd gear! The only slight/momentary losses were in between shifts, which is expected from a lightweight fly and its lack of inertia going into next gear.

I am so impressed with this clutch. 10.5lb flywheel, yet ZERO clutch chatter! First 200 miles was slightly grabby but when it broke in it's as easy as stock now, and the pedal effort is no different either. My wife drives it with no problem (it's actually her car!). My mechanic also liked it so much he ordered one for himself, too! Thanks again, James!

i forgot to mention that the noice reduction is amaizing i use to think that my engine was really worn out and i did a lot of valve treatments and never had a result and now i cant even tell if the engine is on at idle. ITS WAY BETTER NOW!
so far so good

I do recommend this clutch set/flywheel, i have not broke it in yet, but the engaging point is a lot more clear and there is definitely much less or no slipping. the clutch pedal is much easier to use and control, it definitely takes away the spongy feel. the power increase is not huge but it is noticeable and my favorite is that the synchros in the tranny match the gears much faster, and lets you shift a lot faster. im happy i got this set and i saved at least $900 from the dealer price for the whole set up and got more performance on top of it all, i would still recommend to take your car to the dealer for the install if you don’t have the knowledge or the tools, as i took my m coupe to a tranny shop and got ripped off because they want to make money off the parts they usually sell. The parts are definitely awesome.
