E36 Fuel Starvation Kits View Enlarged Image

Fuel starvation in E36 cars occurs in sweeping right hand turns and has a similar effect to lifting in the middle of the turn, sometimes with over 1/2 tank of fuel! Since most sweeping turns are high speed, this can have disastrous results when driving the car at or near its limits. Additionally, starvation causes a lean condition in the engine leading to possible detonation and expensive engine damage.

Our race proven kits eliminate this problem. Constructed mostly from Genuine BMW parts, these kits are completely streetable and operate invisibly. Complete packages for this modification include new fuel pumps and senders, lines, fittings, and instructions. We no longer offer the Stage I kit with one pump - this system relying on a passive siphon effect to pull fuel from the left side of the tanks is not always effective and our customer feedback has not been fully positive.

Kit uses genuine OEM Siemens fuel pump assemblies. Fits all 92-99 323/325/328/M3 cars.

Stage I - DISCONTINUED Car uses all but approximately four gallons of fuel before starvation begins. This modification takes approximately one hour and requires simple tools only with the car on the ground.
Stage II Recommended for serious track/race cars. This system adds a second fuel pump opposite of the stock pump. This modification takes approximately one and a half hours and requires simple tools only with the car on the ground.
Stage III Designed for race cars and will scavenge the last bit of fuel from the tank. This system utilizes dual fuel pumps and an accumulator box. Our kit includes a replacement fuel tank with all parts installed. Installation requires fuel tank replacement.

Positive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingPositive Rating Worth every penny!
From cpdsgt130 of Kannapolis, North Carolina on 9/24/2008.

It took about an hour and a half to install. I did not have any problems. My first real test was at the North Carolina Speedway (The Rock) with the high banks, I really got to test out the advantage of the dual pumps. I ran my 1994 325is until the fuel light came on with no hesitation!! Prior to that I was lucky to make it to below half a tank. You must buy this setup - It is worth every penny and you can now run your BMW with less gas saving weight.

From Brian M. of Raleigh, North Carolina on 7/7/2007.

Our E36 suffered from starvation beginning around 5/8 of a tank (eek!) so we upgraded to the dual pump kit. We can literally run her down to fumes now. This kit has made the car usable again. I would not be able to operate on track without it.

Positive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingPositive Rating Dual Fuel Pumps work very, very well
From Kirk Lachman of Las Vegas, Nevada on 6/12/2007.

I used to starve for fuel in turn 2 at Willow Springs (4th gear flat right hander for 180 degrees) at anything less than 5/8 tank. Now it starves well after the low fuel light comes on. Kit was easy to install and works like a charm. What more could you want?

Positive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingPositive RatingNegative Rating Strongly recommended
From Neil Maller of Fort Wayne, Indiana on 1/9/2004.

The more costly Stage II kit is required for 96+ cars. Installation is somewhat awkward due to the extra space required by the brass adapters and extra fuel hoses. I found it necessary to insert springs inside a couple of the hoses to prevent them from kinking. Slight modification of the new driver side fuel level float assembly is required in order to maintain full range of float arm motion in the tank. You also have to fabricate a small adapter harness to hook up power to the new pump.

Results are outstanding: no fuel starvation on track down to at least 1.5 gallons remaining, which was as low as I cared to go. Before installing the kit the car was at risk below half full.
