This Track Pipe with
X-Pipe and Connecting Pipes has really impressed the BimmerWorld
crew! We replaced another aftermarket muffler-only exhaust (that
had good sound) with the full AA system (including Active Autowerke
rear section) and came away very happy. The AA rear section is nice
with a very moderate tone, but when we installed the midpipe, the
car came alive! The power is impressive and the sound is now
AMAZING. With the full system installed, the M3 has a mellow idle
and zero "drone" between idle and 4000rpm when on partial throttle.
Under full throttle and from 4000rpm to redline the system emits a
raw snarl to the tune of a Ferrari's racy note mixed with
old-school V8 rumble! While cruising at 70-80mph in 6th gear, the
exhaust emits a mellow hum that is hardly noticeable in the cabin -
this car was very comfortable on a recent 1500 mile drive and much
easier on the ears than the rear muffler-only section it replaced!
And at the racetrack when running mostly full throttle, the exhaust
note demands attention and drew a number of looks and
questions.
Kit includes track pipe
with x-pipe and connecting pipes designed and engineered to work
with most after-market exhaust systems/mufflers on the market today
without the need to cut, weld or modify. This system eliminates the
secondary cats with the option to eliminate the primary cats for
off road use. Active Autowerke is able to improve on the factory X
Pipe design by a scavenging effect that yields high horsepower
gains.

replaces the factory exhaust catalyst and is intended for use on
TRACK / OFF ROAD RACING. It is not intended for use on public
highways. If you intend on keeping your M3 100% street legal, we
suggest the Generation Two High-Flow Catalyst option. Also, the
corresponding Active Autowerke software is necessary when removing
the catalyst to keep the CEL off. The Active Autowerke performance
tune is also designed to take full advantage of the new
free-flowing exhaust system. We also suggest the performance tune
for the mid-pipe equipped with the high-flow catalysts for a
corresponding performance increase.
