The rear shock mount is the weakest bushing on the 84 and up 3
Series cars. BMW has gone through more than 5 generations of
designs, and the newest mount is still prone to failure. This
replacement mount based on the popular JTD performance rear shock
mount (but made for higher production) was released initially for
sale to repair shops to eliminate the common service come-back
expense associated with factory mounts. This mount is now available
to you directly from Bimmerworld.
The common problem with the factory design is the shock does not
take only a vertical load - the trailing arm has an arced range of
motion. This forces the shock to pivot around the upper shock
mount, which eventually causes the adhesive bond in the stock
rubber mount to fail - a process expedited when combined with
performance shocks.
This new design allows this pivoting motion and dramatically
extends the life of the mount. We are so confident in these mounts
that if they ever fail, you can trade them in for a new set at no
charge! Made with high quality Buna rubber to eliminate squeaks and
a high production stamped steel plate, costs for this extraordinary
mount are close to the BMW factory price. Fits all 1984-present 3
